After missing last week’s game with a hamstring injury, the Atlanta Falcons are probably going to be getting back their rookie wide receiver Julio Jones this week vs. the Vikings. Here’s the full Falcons injury report for Week 12:

Earlier on Friday it was reported that Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones would play on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, and Jones backed that up by fully participating in Friday’s practice. This was his first full practice this week and the hope is that Jones is fully recovered from the hamstring that has bothered Jones for the past two months and caused him to miss last weeks game against the Tennessee Titans.

Defensive tackle Vance Walker made an appearance on the injury report for the first time this week and cornerback Kelvin Hayden has officially been ruled out. Offensive tackle Sam Barker who has missed time with a back injury was able to fully participate in Friday’s practice, but he is still listed as questionable.

Here’s the full Falcons practice and injury report for Week 12:

NFL: Atlanta Falcons rebound with win over…

The Atlanta Falcons finally played a game that’s more their style.

For Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers, it was just another tough loss.

Michael Turner ran for 139 yards and two touchdowns, Matt Ryan scored the tiebreaking TD with 7 minutes remaining, and Corey Peters came up with a huge interception that helped the Falcons seal a 31-17 victory over the Panthers on Sunday.

The Falcons (3-3) were clearly intent on re-establishing their trademark running game against a vulnerable defense. Led by Turner, they ran the ball 35 times — 13 more than they threw it.

“We’d like to be able to do that every week,” Ryan said.

Turner also scored on a 1-yard run at the end of the first quarter, carrying a season-high 27 times and breaking a streak of three straight games without reaching 100 yards.

Falcons Vs. Bears Injury Report: Corey Peters Out…

Read More: Ray Edwards (DE – ATL), Corey Peters (DT – ATL), Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears

Expectations are fairly high for the Atlanta Falcons heading into the new 2011 season. And for good reason. One cause for concern though is the play of the front seven, a potential liability that didn’t really rear its ugly head in 2010. Speed is more important than ever on defense, but it’s hard to survive in the NFL if you don’t also have some bulk and depth in the trenches and at linebacker.

The Falcons tried to improve their defensive line in free agency by signing free agent Ray Edwards. The addition of Edwards will at least partially be reneged by the loss of DT Corey Peters for Atlanta’s Week 1 road test against the Chicago Bears. Peters, a third-round selection out of Kentucky in the 2010 Draft, suffered a knee injury during the preseason schedule. No surgery was required though, which perhaps lulled fans and scribes into thinking that he’d be just fine once Week 1 rolled around.

That’s not the case unfortunately, as Peters was officially ruled out for Sunday’s game. In his place, Jeriah Perry will get his first real shot at proving he was worthy of a first round selection in the 2009 Draft. Jerry did play in 16 games last year, but he was relegated to rotational duty coming off reconstructive knee surgery and the fact that Peters was playing at a surprisingly high level as a third round rookie.

And just in case you’re curious about the rest of the Falcons injury situation, or the Bears’ for that matter, here’s the complete report for both teams, filed Friday afternoon per league mandate.

Atlanta Falcons Banged Up on D-Line

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) — Corey Peters’ knee injury means more reps in practice for Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Peria Jerry.

Atlanta Falcons coach Mike Smith said Monday that Peters will not participate this week when the Falcons practice this week in Jacksonville and play the Jaguars in a preseason game on Friday.

Peters was injured in practice Sunday and had to be carted off the field, but the team doesn’t believe the knee was structurally damaged.
Peters started 16 of Atlanta’s 17 games last year, but Jerry, the NFL’s 24th overall draft pick two years ago, could be poised to take the job and hold it.

Jerry played as a reserve last year with two sacks, nine tackles and one pass defended in 17 games, but Smith loves his “explosiveness” after the snap.

Not much else going on in the NFL world today.
