Atlanta Falcons Week 13 Injury Report: Julio Jones…

Read More: Michael Turner (RB – ATL), Julio Jones (WR – ATL), Atlanta Falcons, Houston Texans

If you’ve been keeping up with the injury reports on the Atlanta Falcons week to week, a name has been consistently on it, Julio Jones. Such is life for a hamstring injury, they linger. So as Jones continues to linger on the injury report, one name we haven’t seen on the report is the NFL’s 4th leading rusher Michael Turner.

Turner was held out of practice Wednesday due to issues with his groin, and his status is questionable for Sunday versus the Houston Texans.

Here is the full injury report for the Atlanta Falcons on Wednesday:

Did not participate: DE John Abraham (not injury related), TE Tony Gonzalez (not injury related), CB Brent Grimes (knee), CB Kelvin Hayden (toe), WR Julio Jones (hamstring), C Todd McClure (not injury related), LB Stephen Nicholas (quadriceps), RB Michael Turner (groin), DT Vance Walker (groin)

Limited participation: T Sam Baker (back)

Full participation: CB Dunta Robinson (neck)

Running low on time today, i’ll be back tomorrow hopefully with some more news.

Falcons Vs. Panthers: Mike Smith On Michael Turner…

Read More: Michael Turner (RB – ATL), Cam Newton (QB – CAR), Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers

The Atlanta Falcons rallied to beat the Carolina Panthers 31-17 in the homecoming game of former Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton. The homecoming celebration was derailed by a Falcons defense that forced three interceptions and two sacks on Newton, while Michael Turner handled the scoring load with two touchdowns on 139 yards rushing.

During Monday’s Atlanta Falcons’ press conference, head coach Mike Smith was effusive with his praise of Turner and the results from the running game on Sunday:

We felt like the way they were going to defend us was going to give us an opportunity. I don’t know that we basically came out and said how many carries Michael was going to have but Michael got the ball rolling early and we kept feeding him because we felt that he was in a groove.

Smith on getting Turner outside on the edge versus the Panthers:

When people try to defend us, they’re going to basically tell us where we’re going to be able to run the football and that’s the premise of, again, I say it over and over, of our offense and we felt that we were going to be able to get him to the second level and get him to the second level there on the perimeter. Of course, when you’ve got Michael coming around the corner at 245 pounds, there’s some guys that might not necessarily want to take a clean shot at him.

You might remember that here on SB Nation Atlanta we noted that the Falcons success is deeply rooted to how many carries Turner gets a game. Turner hit the magical number of 20 again on Sunday, giving Atlanta three wins in three games when Turner gets 20+ carries.

Atlanta Falcons Releasing Justin Peelle After…

Read More: Tony Gonzalez (TE – ATL), Justin Peelle (TE – ATL), Reggie Kelly (TE – ATL), Michael Palmer (TE – ATL), Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens

The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to release tight end Justin Peelle, reports Aaron Wilson, following the two parties’ acceptance of an injury settlement. The Falcoholic has more context:

Peelle was hurt in practice last week, and the Falcons immediately went out and signed Reggie Kelly. It was unclear how much time Peelle would miss—honestly, it’s still pretty unclear at this point—but the Falcons must have felt it was serious enough that they needed to move ahead with Tony Gonzalez, Kelly and Michael Palmer and let Peelle go with a settlement.

Peelle’s Falcons career spanned three seasons, during which he made 44 appearances, including 27 starts. The former Oregon Duck hauled in 37 receptions for 370 yards and scored five touchdowns. It’s unclear what’s next for Peelle; at 32, with an injury apparently severe enough to make paying him to go away more attractive than keeping him his most recent employers, his NFL career may soon come to a close.

What do you guys think about this.

Madden 12 Player Traits: Michael Turner Adds Power To Falcons Offense

Read More: Michael Turner (RB – ATL), Atlanta Falcons

That same Pasta Padre album packed with Madden 12 player profiles? It has provided us the details on another Atlanta Falcons player, this time RB Michael Turner. We already know Turner is rated a 93 overall and will presumably be a straight-ahead power back with no hands and good top speed, but here’s a look at how he’ll handle in the game:

Looks pretty solid to me, though if I were in charge I’d up his fumble-bracedness (what a weird rating!) and ding his consistency a star or two. Turner very, very rarely turns the ball over, but his yardage fluctuates from game to game quite a bit. Atlanta’s offensive linemen might be given low consistency traits in the game, but I’d think it would make more sense to apply some of that to Turner himself.

Interested in learning how that high motor trait affects things.

That’s all the news for today.
